Hugo

Hugo

Hugo is a fiendish book reviewer whose reading journal won a school competition to meet Philip Ardagh at last year’s Emirates Festival of Literature. He reads a lot of factual stuff – mainly about the ocean but also to find interesting and quirky facts. He likes learning about the world around him and has visited 16 countries so far – his favourite is South Africa, where he tried eating ostrich!

Hugo’s favourite subjects are history, science and English and in his spare time he goes to drama and dance classes. He has appeared in several shows , including Oliver! and Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat when they came to Dubai, and he loves being on stage.

Most overused phrase/word:

“Why?”

Favourite quote from a book:

“You ain’t nothing but a hedgehog, foragin’ all the time; You ain’t nothing but a hedgehog, foragin’ all the time; You ain’t never pricked a predator, you ain’t no Porcupine”

(John Cooper Clarke, ‘Read Me and Laugh’ poetry anthology
