The screechingly funny new novel from the Number One bestselling author

A page-turning, rollicking romp of a read, sparkling with Walliams' most eccentric characters yet and full of humour and heart. From larger than life, tiddlywinks obsessed Awful Aunt Alberta to her pet owl, Wagner – this is an adventure with a difference.

Aunt Alberta is on a mission to cheat the young Lady Stella Saxby out of her inheritance – Saxby Hall. But with mischievous and irrepressible Soot, the cockney ghost of a chimney sweep, alongside her Stella is determined to fight back… And sometimes a special friend, however different, is all you need to win through.

Review by Amber, 12

Awful Auntie is my second favourite book by David Walliams (my first favourite book is Gangsta Granny). I love this book because it is so different (in a good way), from other books, and especially real life. I mean, how often do you come across an evil, murdering, cheating aunt with an equally wicked owl, called Wagner (the owl, not the aunt)? The answer: never. Most Aunties buy you chocolates and stickers and take you to the zoo (this is just in case my favourite Auntie Mez reads this).

My favourite character is probably Wagner (yes, this is a name, believe it or not), the owl. But do not worry, I am not owl obsessed like Auntie Alberta, and I most definitely do not own an owl who is trained to pick up little girls and fly them away. I love the way David Walliams makes it sound like Wagner and Auntie Alberta have a very close friendship-wrong! Nearer to the end, Auntie Alberta announces she is going to turn Saxby Hall into an owl museum and have Wagner as the main attraction-the main stuffed attraction!

One of my favourite parts are when, at the end, Auntie Alberta chases Stella all over the house, trying to kill her. The chase goes on the roof, in the fireplace, up the chimney, everywhere! Another one of my favourite parts is when Auntie Alberta dresses up as a police officer and pretends to help Stella. It is hilarious when her fake moustache falls off!

This is a book I would recommend you put on your christmas list! It will make you laugh all day long and believe me you will read it in one day like I did as its so good.
