Friday’s High Flipper 5: My Favourite Book Characters Who Are (A Bit) Like Me

This week’s top 5 was chosen by Dylan

I was going to choose my 5 favourite characters from books, then I realised that I liked them because they are all a little bit like me. So my top 5 is

My 5 Favourite Book Characters Who Are (A Bit) Like Me

Diary_of_a_wimpy_kidGreg Heffley in Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney

I already explained why Greg Heffley is my favourite character who’s like me, in my review of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. So I am now going to show my Wimpy Kid laziness by copying it and pasting it:

“He is lazy, so am I. I am so lazy my mum is making me write this. He is clever but prefers to act a bit stupid like me because it is more fun … wait … what? He also likes playing video games and doesn’t really like sport (me in a nutshell) … My mum showed me a cartoon where the cartoon boy is told to play outside so he takes his game controller outside and plays through the window. That’s what I would do too and so would Greg Heffley.”

Geek Inc.: Technoslime Terror

Barney in Geek Inc.: Technoslime Terror by Mark Griffiths

Barney is another of my favourite characters who are like me because he’s curious about what’s going on around him, he likes mysteries, and he doesn’t mind being friends with a girl. I have a friend who is a girl and (this might come as a surprise to other boys…) she is funny and interesting

world of norm 2

Zak Knight in The World Of Norm 5: May be Contagious by Jonathan Meres

I know it is strange to like the bad guy in a book and to think he is like me, but this is a bad guy with an interesting back story and a reason to be mean. So I like him.

I wouldn’t do the nasty things he did, but I like to make complicated plans like he does and to see what happens J

Two of my favourite characters are a bit like me are from books I’ve read that aren’t even out yet (it’s cool being a reviewer):

who framed klaris cliff

Flea in Who Framed Klaris Cliff by Nikki Sheehan

Flea was one of the reason I liked this book so much (getting a chance to read it before everyone else does is another reason!). I liked Flea the best, even though he wasn’t the main character in the book, because he knows he is different from other kids but he doesn’t care. Life is much better if you don’t waste time trying to be like everyone else. Then you can do fun stuff instead. Go, Flea! Go, me!

Noelle in The Case of the Exploding Loo by Rachel Hamilton

Although she is a girl, I think I am like Noelle for a few reasons:

  1. She can solve clues
  2. She knows lots of interesting stuff other people don’t know because they don’t realise how interesting it is
  3. She is very clever at book things, but not always clever at life things

She was also created by my mum, so I think it might not be a coincidence that she’s similar to me. I think I might have been character-burgled :)
