The incredible debut novel from YouTube phenomenon Zoe Sugg, aka Zoella.

I have this dream that, secretly, all teenage girls feel exactly like me. And maybe one day, when we realize that we all feel the same, we can all stop pretending we're something we're not... But until that day, I'm going to keep it real on this blog and keep it unreal in real life.

Penny has a secret.

Under the alias Girl Online, Penny blogs her hidden feelings about friendship, boys, high school drama, her crazy family, and the panic attacks that have begun to take over her life. When things go from bad to worse, her family whisks her away to New York, where she meets Noah, a gorgeous, guitar-strumming American. Suddenly Penny is falling in love - and capturing every moment of it on her blog.

But Noah has a secret, too, one that threatens to ruin Penny's cover - and her closest friendship - forever.

Review by Bella

I am desperate to start a blog after reading this book in the hope that I might be lucky enough to generate followers that I can talk to online as well as share my love for writing. Whether this will ever happen I don’t know. (A new years resolution maybe?)

Poor Penny is extremely easy to relate to for most teenage girls. Living in the exciting town of Brighton she attends a local secondary school and is not exactly the popular girl and likes to escape unseen, however following a series of unfortunate events she is exposed to the internet in the most embarrassing of ways.

Would you like to fall over on stage whilst taking a photograph of the cast that you aren’t even in and have your knickers on show to the whole world? I wouldn’t! But this is a reality for Penny when her supposed friends post it on YouTube and it goes viral!

When an opportunity comes up to go to New York for Christmas with her parents and best friend she jumps at the chance to go! What more could you want then going on holiday with you best friend and parents in the Big Apple and escape all your worries at home!

Penny’s luck is changing! Her blog is taking off and has a growing number of responses and followers each day! She gets a holiday to New York! And whilst in New York meets Noah………. Suddenly her world is turned upside down as she starts falling madly in love and is capturing everything on her secret blog!

Noah has a secret too and when this threatens to ruin Penny’s cover and her closest friendship what is Girl Online to do?

You have to read this book so that I don’t give everything away! This is the debut novel of Zoe Sugg founder of the blog Zoella. I really hope this is the first of many novels for Zoe! What is so endearing about the novel is that it plays similarities to Zoe’s life in the beginning when she was starting her blog and trying to deal with her anxiety. I loved this book and really wish there was a second.

After writing my review I discovered that the novel actually used a ghost writer! This really broke my heart as I thoroughly enjoyed the book knowing the whole back story about Zoella. In reality a lot of celebrities that write books use ghost writers and this makes me really sad! I still enjoyed the book but don’t admire it as much.
