Ringo Starr to publish children’s book

Ringo Starr, drummer extraordinaire and voice of Thomas the Tank Engine, has released the first artwork from the forthcoming picture book of Octopus’s Garden.

The song, from the 1969 Beatles album Abbey Road, will be brought to life by Aliens Love Underpants illustrator Ben Cort, and published with a CD of Ringo reading the story and a previously unheard recording of the song.

The book will take five children on an underwater adventure, hosted by a playful octopus who gives them rides on turtles, plays pirates in a sunken city and shelters them from a storm in its cave.

Octopus’s Garden will be published by Simon & Schuster in the UK on 24 October, and in the US in January 2014.
